Healthwatch Sunderland commended in national awards
At a recent prestigious national Healthwatch England awards event we were delighted to receive a commendation for our Care Home Life – What it’s really like! Work.
Shortlisted under the ‘The impact our team makes’ category the annual event, which this year took place virtually due to the pandemic, celebrated the difference all local Healthwatch 4,400 staff and volunteers have made over the past year.
We were one of only 30 local Healthwatch out of a total of 152 across England who received an award or a commendation.
The team have continued to work during the pandemic and our Care home Life work and our findings have become even more important whilst care home doors in Sunderland are shut to visitors to protect residents from COVID-19.
Sir Robert Francis QC, Chair of Healthwatch England, said: "I never stop being inspired by the dedication of local Healthwatch staff to making care better for their communities. Whether reaching out to those whose views are not being heard, helping people to find the support they need or making sure NHS and social care services act on the improvements that the public want to see, the award entries highlight the difference local Healthwatch make.
I would like to congratulate everyone who received a commendation or an Award. They have done their communities proud.”
