Out and About

05/10/2018

Our Engagement Team and volunteers have been very ‘busy bees’ over the last month getting out and about across Sunderland telling people who we are and what we do.

Here is a snapshot of just some of the things we have been up to:

Believe it or not, it is a year since we first made visits to Sunderland Care Homes as part of our Care Home Life work, which has been a real success, so much so we are repeating the process!

This month we have visited The Mews, Marigold and Blossom Hill care homes, spoken to residents, their family and friends, staff and management. This work will be ongoing over the coming months and the reports will be published on our website - Watch this space!

Inclusion, diversity and equality is the name of the game here at Healthwatch Sunderland – We strive to connect with people from all ethnicities, ages, cultures and beliefs.  We have met with a wide range of groups and individuals, listened to and logged their experiences of using health and social care services to ensure that all Sunderland residents get the optimum treatment and support!

We have also visited community groups and venues, such as; The Alzheimers Society Memory Café, ICOS Community Connectors, Back on the Map, Aquila Resource Centre, Sunderland Aquatic Centre and some of the many independent living centres, including the Nelson Close Coffee Open Day and the city's newest extra care facility Hope Bank View.

It is now six months since the merger of Dr Bhate & Hussain and Dr Nathan GP surgeries and we have now began our visits to the new Dr Bhate and Partners practice to hear patient’s views on how they think the merger is working for them.

Would your organisation like Healthwatch Sunderland to listen to the views of your clients/service users about the health and social care services across the city, please just get in touch with us on 0191 514 7145 or email healthwatchsunderland@pcp.uk.net
