Sunderland Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment Statutory Consultation 2017


Sunderland Health and Wellbeing Board have commenced the required 60 day statutory consultation period, the consultation opened on Monday 18th December 2017 and will run to Friday 16th February 2018.

Sunderland Health & Wellbeing Board must publish a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) which details current and planned pharmacy provision in Sunderland by 1st April 2018. This covers the following:

  • the number and location of community-based pharmacies in the county
  • the range of pharmaceutical services and locally commissioned services and ease of access to those services against the needs of our communities to identify any current or future gaps in the services provided
  • how services provided by local pharmacies could be developed in line with Sunderland's Health and Wellbeing Strategy

NHS England will refer to the final assessment before proposing any changes, developing any new pharmacy services or considering applications for new pharmacies in Sunderland.
