Delay getting a new patient assessment
A lady called to say that she had been removed from her last GP practice due to missing appointments. She went to register at another local GP practice and was informed that she could not have an appointment with a GP until she had a New Patient Assessment which couldn't be completed for three weeks. The lady was worried that her medications would not last until then. Her medicines included some for her mental health condition.
We called the GP surgery and they stated that this was the case and they have worked like this for the last 12 years.
Our Manager called the head of locality leads at the Clinical Commissioning Group who stated that this shouldn't happen and put us in touch with the Area Lead for that practice who contacted the practice in question.
The lady then received a call from one of the GPs at the surgery who arranged an appointment for her the next day.
She said; "Thank you so much for your help. I don't know what you said but it worked."
