Home improvements that will aid your independence in your own home

Our Engagement Team and Volunteers regularly visit Sheltered Housing as part of our engagement with communities across the City. Whilst holding an information session at such a venue we were approached by a lady who we had spoken to when visiting the premises the previous year, this is what she told us;

"Last year when you came to visit us you told us how to find out about home improvements to help people with disabilities to live at home.

I was having difficulty getting in and out of the bath safely, so I decided to get in touch with them. Someone came out to my home to do an assessment and they said I could have my bathroom converted to a wet room, I was over the moon that they could help and I am so pleased with the results.

I just want to say thank you very much for coming out to visit us here, without your information I would never have known about this service."

This is the information we gave;

Sunderland Care and Support (The Home Improvement Agency) helps people in need of support to maintain their independence in their chosen home for the foreseeable future.
This is achieved by supporting people throughout the repair, adaptation or improvement process, so that people can stay in their own home, in a warm safe and secure environment.
