Starting April 2024, people in the North East and North Cumbria can access local crisis mental health services 24/7 by calling NHS 111 and choosing the mental health option. This simplifies the current system, where separate freephone numbers are used, streamlining access to urgent support.

The integration into NHS 111's mental health option is part of the broader NHS Long Term plan to enhance urgent and emergency care services nationwide.
