On 16th April 2024, Anna and Wendy were delighted to meet Ashleigh Gibson, Social Worker, to present her with a Healthwatch Sunderland Star Award.
Ashleigh was nominated by a local gentleman who is a carer for his wife, he said:
“Ashleigh has shown me and my wife great kindness, commitment, and dedication to help us in terms of great stress and need. Yet she still retains a total professionalism and positive manner towards direct assistance. She is genuine human being I have been privileged to meet who has guided us safely through dreadful problems. She is a wonderful asset to the Adult Services unit.”
After receiving her award, Ashleigh got in touch and said:
“It means a great deal to me that this client has taken time to share his views/feelings about the time I spent working with him and his wife. His comments are so kind and heartfelt. They are a lovely couple and although my role came at a time where they were struggling it was a pleasure to work with them and support them. I am proud that my involvement had a positive impact.
I am also very proud of him for sharing his experience with others to offer support and guidance to his peers who are in a similar position to where he was last year. I am sure by sharing his experience there will be people who find re-assurance and relief that they are not alone.”
