Our Chair, John Dean

I have a keen interest in improving access to health and social care services for the benefit of the people of Sunderland and to remove the confusion that can exist, on the pathway they should chose for their treatment or social service needs and to ensure that they receive integrated or joined up care, when they are discharged from hospital so they are not left isolated when care is transferred from one service provider to another.

Our Board

Vice chair, Paul Weddle

I am very interested in local health and social care and ensuring residents of Sunderland are provided the very best in services. I feel we should be offering greater choice. I am really looking forward to working with Healthwatch Sunderland and all stakeholders to make sure everyone has the information needed so they can make informed decisions around care in Sunderland.

Michael Butler

I am interested in local health care and getting the best out of local resources to try and achieve the best health and social care services for Sunderland residents.  I am looking forward to working with Healthwatch Sunderland and partners to establish a credible and authoritative user voice in Sunderland.

Andrew Carton

I have a strong interest in all aspects of health and wellbeing and firmly believe in health and social care services engaging positively with service users to provide the best possible experience to the people of Sunderland.

Liz Highmore

No decision about me, without me” should be a mantra for everyone requiring health and social care. I am now retired but have been unable to work becoming disabled. I care passionately about the NHS and believe that everyone should get the health and social care they need, when they need it and not what someone else assumes they need without involving them in the decision.

Gavin Barr

I am excited to have joined the team at Sunderland Healthwatch. I believe that my I can use my knowledge and experience as a board member and make sure that the views of people with a learning disability and or autism are well represented. I hope that I can help make changes in the way people are supported so that people have good lives and can say what is important to them.

Christine Colley

My close family from great-grandparents to grand-children have always lived in Sunderland.  The health and wellbeing of all the residents of Sunderland is of great importance to me.  I feel I have the skills to be able to contribute towards providing a better service.
