Keep Active - Holiday Activity Fund sessions
In October 2025, our Youthwatch team made a real difference at some local Holiday Activity Fund sessions. When Keep Active, a community interest company dedicated to helping local residents lead healthy and fulfilling lives, reached out to us for assistance, we gladly accepted their request to help children explore the concept of boundaries—an essential skill for navigating friendships and personal space.
We approached the request for help with energy and creativity and designed a fun session we delivered with the children. We adapted an existing template for different age groups, adding a fun video, and even designing a colouring‑in sheet to bring the concept to life. Through role play, the children practiced asking permission—whether to cuddle, play, or borrow something—and quickly began to understand how important it is to respect each other’s boundaries.
What difference did this make?
Children now recognise the importance of asking permission before interacting with others.
- They have learned to value and respect personal boundaries, appreciating that everyone has different comfort levels.
- The sessions gave them the confidence to say “no” when they feel uncomfortable, helping them feel safer and more relaxed.
- Most importantly, the children are now happier and more at ease in their groups, building friendships with greater understanding and respect for one another.
This wasn’t just a session—it was a step toward creating inclusive, supportive spaces where every child can thrive.
